Russia: “Putin and Trump had an hour-long call… detailed discussions on Iran and the Middle East”

“Some Discussions About Halting Weapon Supplies to Ukraine Didn’t Occur” “Trump Urged to Resolve War Issues Again, But Putin Insists on Achieving His Goals”

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Kang Min-kyung – On the 3rd (local time), Russia announced that President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed Iran and the Middle East in detail during a phone call.

According to Reuters, Yuri Ushakov, Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser, mentioned that the phone call lasted about an hour and that they agreed to continue their dialogue in the future.

However, he explained that there were no discussions regarding the partial halt of U.S. weapon supplies to Ukraine.

Ushakov highlighted that President Trump once again urged a swift resolution to the war in Ukraine, but President Putin made it clear that Russia would not back away from its existing goals.

The discussion on Middle Eastern issues appears to be a continuation of a call held on the 14th of last month. At that time, President Putin had criticized Israel’s military operations against Iran and suggested the possibility of Russian mediation.

Additionally, there were no specific discussions about a face-to-face meeting between the two leaders, he added.

This call took place two days after the U.S. Department of Defense announced that it would temporarily halt some weapon shipments to Ukraine due to a shortage in U.S. military stockpiles.
