As the application of reciprocal tariffs in the United States is set to begin soon, President Trump has announced that he will be sending letters to various countries, outlining their reciprocal tariff rates.

This is seen as pressure on these countries to hasten negotiations. Let’s connect with the newsroom for detailed information.

On the 3rd local time, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that as early as the 4th local time, he would start sending letters to countries specifying their reciprocal tariff rates.

He also mentioned that “starting the 4th, some letters will be sent to up to ten countries per day.” These letters are said to include content such as “tariffs will be 20%, 25%, or 30%.”

President Trump’s remarks are interpreted as an intention to start notifying countries of the reciprocal tariff rates determined for them before the expiration of the reciprocal tariff grace period on the 8th.

However, as the possibility of extending the grace period is also being discussed, there are interpretations that the U.S. is sending a pressure message to countries to expedite negotiations.

The second Trump administration initially set reciprocal tariffs on 57 economic entities, including South Korea, on April 2nd and began applying the tariffs a week later, but immediately deferred them for 90 days.

At a press conference held yesterday at the Blue House guesthouse, marking a month in office, President Lee Jae-myung also commented on the status of tariff negotiations with the U.S., saying, “It is definitely not easy.”

President Lee noted that “it is difficult to guarantee whether negotiations can be concluded by the deadline known to be the 8th” and stated that “both parties have yet to clearly organize what exactly they want.”

This has been reported from the newsroom.
