[Herald Economy = Reporter Min Seong-gi] The feedback from Hana Bank employees who tasted the food made by Lee Mi-young, a ‘Gourmet Chef’ featured on the Netflix cooking show ‘Black and White Kiss: Cooking Class Wars’, has become a hot topic.
According to Hana Bank’s official social media account, on the 30th of last month, Lee Mi-young served lunch at the cafeteria of Hana Bank’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, to the bank’s staff.
The menu included stir-fried pork belly with red pepper paste, rolled omelet, soft tofu stew, fresh cabbage kimchi, and onion salad, with approximately 600 servings prepared.
Before the start of the meal, which was offered to employees who won through a prior application, a long line formed at the cafeteria to try Lee’s food.
Lee Mi-young, a former elementary school food service cook, does not run her own restaurant unlike other participants on ‘Black and White Chef’, making the opportunity to taste her food rare, which drew even more attention to the event.
Hana Bank’s official SNS was flooded with comments such as “Tell us the reviews”, “I want to try it too”, and “I am dizzy, please give us the reviews quickly”, showing a hot response.
An employee who tasted the food left a review on the anonymous workplace community ‘Blind’, saying “The rolled omelet was a bit salty but tasty. The stir-fried pork wasn’t particularly special but was reasonably delicious”. They added, “The onion salad went well with the pork, and though I usually don’t like soft tofu stew, I finished it all. I also usually don’t eat cabbage kimchi, but I ate it all this time”, expressing satisfaction.
Another employee commented on SNS, “It was really delicious. The soft tofu stew tasted different from usual. The rolled omelet was simple but very tasty. The stir-fried pork belly in red pepper paste was a rice thief”, giving high praise.
However, one employee, C, mentioned on their SNS, “She seems optimized for large-scale cooking. Because it’s mass cooking, the taste was ordinary,” expressing slight disappointment.
Meanwhile, Samsung Welstory also plans to offer signature dishes from the ‘Black and White Chef’ participants at their cafeteria, providing staff with a unique experience.
The menu will include Chef Choi Hyun-seok’s ‘Korean Pork and Beef Steak’, Chef Jang Ho-jun’s ‘Beef Bulgogi Gyu-don’, Chef Hwang Jin-seon’s ‘White Jjamppong’, Chef Choi Ji-hyeong’s ‘North Korean-Style Sundae Soup’, Chef Song Ha-slam’s (Side Dish Chef) ‘Perilla Seaweed Soup and 4 Others’, Chef Cho Seo-hyung (Business Genius Boss Cho)’s ‘Spicy Braised Short Ribs’, and Chef Park Jae-hyun’s (Camping Man) ‘Pho’ among various dishes.
