[Exclusive] Mijoo Splits from Soccer Player Song Bum-keun After 9 Months of Public Relationship
[Mydaily = Reporter Lee Seung-gil] Mijoo, former member of the group Lovelyz and now a singer and broadcaster, has broken up with soccer player Song Bum-keun. They ended their public relationship after nine months.
According to Mydaily’s investigation on the 20th, Mijoo and Song Bum-keun recently parted ways. A source close to the two stated, “Mijoo and Song Bum-keun have separated. They loved each other beautifully, but the pressure of being in a public relationship was unavoidable. Despite the breakup, they have decided to remain supportive friends.”
The romance between the couple, who have a three-year age difference with Mijoo being the elder, first became public in April of last year. Their relationship was brought to light due to their Instagram posts, where they uploaded photos that hinted at them being in the same travel locations, thereby publicly acknowledging their relationship.
Mijoo notably showed her affection by traveling to Yokohama, Japan to visit Song Bum-keun while he was playing in the J-League. Despite nurturing their relationship over long distances, they ultimately decided to part ways. It is particularly regrettable as Song Bum-keun recently left Japan’s J-League team Shonan Bellmare to join Jeonbuk Hyundai in the K-League, returning to Korea. There was speculation that their relationship might progress further with his return, but unfortunately, news of their breakup emerged first.
Meanwhile, Mijoo, who debuted in 2014 with the group Lovelyz, switched her agency to Antenna and debuted as a solo artist in 2023. She is currently showcasing her versatile charm on various entertainment programs, including MBC’s “Hangout with Yoo.”
Song Bum-keun, who joined Jeonbuk Hyundai as a rookie goalkeeper in 2018, is preparing for the new season after returning to Jeonbuk Hyundai this year.
