The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has announced the results of the public competition for specialized public rental housing projects that reflect regional demand.
The ministry stated today (the 14th) that through the ‘2024 second half specialized public rental housing competition,’ a total of 1,983 units of specialized public rental housing are selected in 11 locations nationwide.
Specialized public rental housing targets specific groups such as young people, the elderly, and newlyweds, and offers residential spaces along with a variety of support facilities, such as welfare facilities, care spaces, and libraries, leading to high satisfaction among residents.
The selected areas by type include welfare housing for the elderly, job-linked supportive housing, and region proposal-type specialized housing.
Elderly welfare housing is rental housing with convenience facilities for those aged 65 and older without homes, planned with a total of 310 units in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, and Yanggu County, Gangwon.
Job-linked supportive housing is aimed at young entrepreneurs, small business workers, and regional strategic industry workers, with plans to offer supportive facilities like startups centers, with 439 units to be supplied in Seongbuk District, Seoul; Seongnam, Gyeonggi; Seo District, Daejeon; and Yeongwol County, Gangwon.
Finally, region proposal-type specialized housing will be supplied with a total of 1,234 units in Geumcheon District and Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul; and Inje County, Gangwon.
Region proposal-type specialized housing, which allows local governments to design occupancy conditions and methods, is newly introduced from this competition.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, “We will support smooth procedures such as approval of housing construction project plans for selected projects,” and “We plan to actively conduct promotions through business briefing sessions, etc., to further vitalize the specialized public rental housing project.”
