CJ CheilJedang has begun selling ‘Bibigo Soba Barbecue Chicken’ in the US and Japan as part of its strategy to penetrate the global market.

CJ CheilJedang has announced the launch of its ‘Bibigo Sobab Chicken’ in the United States and Japan, marking its entry into these international markets. Starting from early November, the product has been available at ‘Costco’ stores in the U.S., and it has already been stocked in all Costco locations in Japan. Beginning next month, European consumers, particularly in the UK, France, and Germany, will also be able to purchase Sobab Chicken, with plans to expand distribution further.

The success of ‘Sobab Chicken’ in the Korean market, known for its restaurant-quality taste and crispiness, is anticipated to appeal to international consumers as well. The product is notable for its unique sauce-coating technique developed by CJ CheilJedang. Launched with its first product ‘Soy Honey’ in April, Sobab Chicken has generated nearly 120 billion won in cumulative sales as of the third week of last month.

Domestically sold under the ‘Gourmet’ brand, CJ CheilJedang operates its K-food products under the ‘Bibigo’ brand internationally as part of its global strategy. Yang Shin-young, leader of CJ CheilJedang’s Chicken GSP, expressed optimism about presenting Sobab Chicken, which overcame the limitations of frozen chicken, to international consumers, further promoting K-food worldwide with differentiated products tailored to local preferences.
