Gyeongbuk Andong Police Station announced on the 10th that they have forwarded three members of the KBS drama set props team to the prosecution on charges of damaging Byungsan Seowon, a UNESCO-listed cultural heritage site, for violating the Cultural Heritage Preservation and Utilization Act.
These individuals are accused of nailing several wooden pillars at Byungsan Seowon’s Mandaeru and Dongjae on December 30 of last year to hang model lantern props. The city of Andong filed consecutive reports to the police against the two companies comprising the KBS set props team on the 3rd and 8th of last month.
After it was revealed that nails were driven into Byungsan Seowon by the production team, a complaint filed by an ordinary citizen was also received by the police.
A representative from the Andong Police Station’s Intelligence Crime Investigation Team stated, “We confirmed that the team leader and staff of the outsourced KBS set props team damaged the cultural property and forwarded the case to the prosecution.”
In response to Andong City’s request, KBS has discarded all controversial filming footage and issued an apology.
