Daejeon Daedeok-gu ‘K-Care Leading City’ Care and Health School Entrance Ceremony

**Health, Care, and Welfare Integrated Service ‘Well-Received’… “Will Make It a Representative Care Model of Korea”**

Daejeon Daejeok District successfully concluded the inauguration ceremony for the nation’s first futuristic elderly care facilities, ‘Care Health Schools’ in Beobdong, Daedeok, and Jungni, on the 27th.

The Daedeok District Care Health School is a senior-friendly multiplex space providing integrated health, care, and welfare services.

During the inauguration, time was dedicated to introducing specialized programs for each school and future operational plans for new students.

Daedeok District is operating customized programs at the Care Health School to promote the physical and mental health of the elderly.

Initially, the ‘Health Promotion Program’ includes tailored exercise therapy, aerobic exercises, and dementia prevention and cognitive therapy programs for senior health management. Notably, this year they added a ‘Visit Oral Education Program’ for supervising elder dental care.

The ‘Care Program’ supports balanced nutrition through communal meal programs utilizing a shared kitchen, and promotes emotional stability through laughter therapy and psychological counseling sessions. It also prevents social isolation through hobby activities and self-help group operations.

Additionally, the program offers medical and welfare-linked services, providing medical services through a visiting medical support center, establishing a welfare service consultation and emergency care support system, and promotes physical and mental health enhancement through health monitoring such as body composition and depression scale tests.

The district plans to strengthen regional community integrated care and expand health management support through the Care Health School in the future.

District Mayor Choi Chung-kyu stated, “We will continue to strengthen medical and care connections to establish a leading welfare system in preparation for a super-aged society,” and vowed, “We will do our best to ensure that the Daedeok District Care Health School becomes a representative care model of Korea.”

The Daedeok District Care Health School surpassed 50,000 cumulative users last year, reflecting a positive impact on seniors’ health improvement and daily lives.

Notably, a comprehensive health score survey showed that 70.1% of participating seniors improved or maintained their health, while 86.5% of respondents in a depression index test reported experiencing a decrease in feelings of depression.
