Daejeon City to Adjust and Establish New City Bus Routes Starting from the 27th

Daejeon City plans to introduce a new bus route, No. 123, starting on the 27th and add one more bus to the Advanced Line 2, which circulates the International Science Business Belt. Additionally, the city will begin joint operations of the M1 express bus between Daejeon and Sejong.

This route adjustment aims to address increased traffic demand due to the opening of Doan Boulevard and large residential complexes, reduce congestion during peak times around the International Science Business Belt and Daedeok Research Complex, and improve the operational efficiency of the M1 express bus.

The new bus route No. 123 will connect Wonnae-dong, Doan Boulevard, Doandong-ro, and Guam Station, covering areas previously without bus services, such as Doan Boulevard, Oncheon-dong-ro, and Munhwayeon-ro.

The ‘Advanced Line 2,’ which connects the International Science Business Belt District and Daedeok Research Complex, will increase its fleet from three to four buses. This measure is intended to alleviate congestion during peak hours and enhance mobility for research institute employees.

The joint operation of the M1 express bus by Daejeon City, which was solely operated by Sejong City, is expected to strengthen the connectivity and operational stability of the integrated Daejeon-Sejong transit system.

Nam Si-deok, Director of Transportation, stated, “This bus route adjustment is part of an active approach to minimize potential inconveniences to citizens due to urban development, changing transportation environments, and tram construction. We will continue to pursue flexible and efficient public transportation policies that align with changing transportation demands.”

Detailed routes and schedules for the new and adjusted lines can be found on the city’s Transportation Information Center and the Daejeon City Bus Transport Association website.
