The “three major special prosecutors” have continued their preparations for full-scale investigations, even giving up their weekend.

Today, one special prosecutor from the investigation team into insurrection-related charges will attend the trial of former President Yoon Seok-yeol and another will attend the detention warrant hearing for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun.

This is Lee Ho-joon reporting.

[Report]

Park Eok-soo, a special prosecutor from the insurrection investigation team, will attend the trial concerning the “insurrection leader” charges against former President Yoon Seok-yeol being held today.

Under the special prosecutor law, the insurrection investigation team took over existing cases related to insurrection and is also responsible for maintaining the indictments.

Special Prosecutor Park, along with prosecutors seconded to the team, will sit at the prosecution table in court and lead the trial response.

Special Prosecutor Kim Hyung-soo will be involved in the additional detention hearing for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun.

Previously, Special Prosecutor Jo Eun-seok has officially started the investigation by filing additional charges against former Minister Kim, whose detention is set to expire on the 26th, for obstruction of official duties by deception.

Although Kim filed for a suspension of execution in response to the additional charges, the court dismissed it, siding with the special prosecutor.

The insurrection investigation team has announced they have sent materials to military prosecutors and are consulting on bringing charges regarding the rapid review needed for matters related to Yeon In-hyung, a former counterintelligence commander.

Meanwhile, the Kim Geon-hee investigation team, which is set to move into the KT building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, early next month, reported all staff came to the temporary office yesterday, a holiday.

This was to discuss office arrangement and additional dispatch plans.

The Kim Geon-hee investigation team has recently requested the dispatch of 28 prosecutors from the Ministry of Justice and plans to request additional dispatches to fill the legal maximum of 40 prosecutors.

Yesterday, the Lee Myung-hyun military death investigation team also reported for duty, holding meetings with special prosecutors and starting legal reviews.

This investigation team plans to build charges through other investigations before finally summoning former President Yoon last.

High-intensity investigations are also planned for Lee Jong-seop, former Minister of Defense, who is under suspicion for external pressure on the investigation.
