[Seoul = Newsis] Reporter Moon Ye-seong = It has been reported that the American electric vehicle company Tesla is preparing to soon launch its driving assistance software ‘FSD (Full Self-Driving)’ in China.

On the 25th, China’s economic media outlets, such as Zailean, quoted sources stating, “Tesla is expected to soon distribute FSD to Tesla vehicle owners in China.”

This system can guide a vehicle through lamps and intersections, recognize traffic signals, and perform functions such as turning, and changing lanes and speeds.

Sources further explained, “This system will be provided to Chinese customers who have already paid 64,000 yuan (approximately 12 million KRW),” adding that “it will initially be installed in some vehicles, with plans to expand the installation range.”

Previously, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, visited China last April and discussed the issue of launching FSD with Premier Li Qiang. In June last year, it was reported that Tesla had signed a contract with China’s portal provider Baidu to receive local map services.

Additionally, in September last year, Tesla announced its plans to launch FSD in China and Europe as early as the first quarter of 2025.

However, there have been speculations that the approval of Tesla FSD by Chinese authorities might be delayed due to recent escalating tensions between the U.S. and China.
