Recently, Israel launched a massive airstrike against the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon, attacking the stronghold of the Houthi rebels in Yemen on September 29th local time. According to AFP, the Israeli military spokesperson David Abraham stated that dozens of air force aircraft, including fighter jets, aerial refueling aircraft, and reconnaissance planes, attacked Houthi rebel facilities in Ras Isa and Hodeidah in Yemen.
Just a day before, the Houthi rebels claimed to have fired ballistic missiles toward Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. The Israeli Air Force flew approximately 1700 km to carry out the bombing operation targeting Hodeidah, as reported by AP. Israel targeted the power plant and port facilities in Hodeidah.
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized in a statement right after the Yemen airstrike that their message was clear, stating that they would attack their enemies no matter how far away they are. According to AFP, the Houthi-run health department in Yemen reported that four people were killed and 40 others were injured due to Israel’s airstrike on that day.
Further airstrikes targeting Hezbollah by the Israeli military continued that day. Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned against allowing Israel to attack successive countries considered part of the “axis of resistance.” The news was reported by the Russian TASS news agency.
