International mail to the United States has been normalized… Post offices will begin accepting mail from the 22nd.

MSIT Completes Integration with US Customs Payment System… Deputy Prime Minister Back Kyung-hoon: “Aim for Restoring Trust and Improving Quality”

On the 22nd, packages and EMS (Express Mail Service) to the United States can be sent normally again. The postal service, which had been halted due to a fire at the National Information Resources Service last month, has been restored.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the system has been restored through the cooperation of the National Information Resources Service and US customs payment companies.

According to the Korea Post, the acceptance procedure after system restoration will operate in the same manner as it did on September 22, when it was partially halted and resumed due to a change in US customs policy (Related article: Korea Post Reopens International Mail to US https://omn.kr/2fene).

International mail senders can use the Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) method when sending mail and must accurately fill out the customs declaration (CN22/CN23) with the product name, quantity, price, HS code, and origin.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Back Kyung-hoon stated, “We quickly proceeded with the restoration to minimize customer inconvenience, and international mail acceptance to the US is back to normal,” adding, “We will continue to strive for the restoration of trust and quality improvement in international mail services.”

Meanwhile, Korea Post is offering a 5,000 won discount on EMS to the US until the end of this month to alleviate the burden on customers affected by the fire.
