“Arrest one person to save millions”… Advertisement posted on the outer wall of the North Korean mission in Switzerland

Lee Je-seok Ad Lab announced that on the 6th (local time), they attached an advertisement poster to the exterior wall of the North Korean mission building in Geneva, Switzerland, calling for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to be sent to prison. The poster showed Kim Jong-un wearing an orange prison uniform with the phrase “Arrest One, Save Millions” written across the chest. He is depicted holding onto bars with a nonchalant expression. Behind him are portrait frames thought to represent Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il.

Lee Je-seok Ad Lab, in collaboration with PSCORE, a Korean organization focusing on North Korean human rights, continues efforts to raise international awareness of the Kim Jong-un regime’s crimes against humanity and human rights violations. This advertisement was part of such efforts.

In 2014, Lee Je-seok Ad Lab also gained attention by unveiling a poster highlighting North Korea’s human rights abuses at the United Nations European headquarters in Geneva during the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting. The poster depicted the silhouettes of a North Korean family executed for speaking out of turn, designed as a target board referred to as the “Family Execution Target Poster.” Dozens of these posters were lined up on the walls of the main hall where the meeting and presentations for journalists and NGOs took place.

At that time, Lee Je-seok, the head of the Ad Lab, explained to Yonhap News Agency that the reason for creating and exposing such posters was to effectively convey the dire human rights situation in North Korea, where not only the accused but also their immediate family can be punished or executed in front of each other. He mentioned that addressing human rights issues within the country often leads to political misunderstandings or a lack of public interest, so they chose to appeal to the international community at the United Nations Human Rights Council.
