SK Telecom announced on the 22nd that, in celebration of Earth Day, they will be launching a new service called ‘Eco Letter’ within their mobile billing service ‘Bill Letter.’
The Eco Letter service is designed to encourage participation in carbon-neutral activities by analyzing individual carbon neutrality point accumulations and assisting users in maximizing their point earnings. The subscription fee is 3,300 KRW per month.
With location-based activity analysis, Eco Letter guides users on stores where points can be earned. It provides detailed guidance on actions that can earn points and information on products available for immediate point accrual and their sales outlets.
Users can also engage with the Green Living Practice Challenge, which encourages energy-saving goals by informing households of their energy (electricity, water, gas) usage. It allows users to set goals for energy conservation within each category and provides simulation information on potential point earnings.
Additionally, monthly green living practice-related benefits are offered, including a 3,000 KRW discount coupon for purchasing eco-friendly products at major supermarkets (e.g., Emart, Lotte Mart). A 3,000 KRW convenience store (CU, GS25) coupon is given as a reward after practicing green living actions ten times.
Bicycle-related accident coverage is also provided as part of the service. Eco Letter members who suffer incidents such as collisions while riding a bicycle can apply for coverage on the Eco Letter website or through the customer center and may receive insurance benefits of up to 1 million KRW based on the diagnosis criteria, for the first claim only.
To commemorate the launch, SK Telecom plans to offer Starbucks eco-tumbler purchase coupons to 300 customers selected from those who register for Eco Letter and maintain the service until the 21st of the following month.
Bill Letter, created in 2012, is a mobile app service that sends bills for telecommunications, credit cards, local taxes, city gas, and more to approximately 15 million members. Alongside Eco Letter, it offers various lifestyle-customized additional services such as Stock Letter and Auto Letter.
Kim Kyung-deok, head of SK Telecom’s Enterprise Business Division (Vice President), stated, “In celebration of Earth Day, SK Telecom has been continuing efforts to reduce carbon emissions, such as turning off building lights. With the introduction of the Eco Letter service, we aim to expand our ESG management by supporting customers in practicing green living.”
