Satellite service company KT SAT participates in NASA’s lunar exploration CubeSat project.

KT SAT, the satellite service company of the KT Group, announced on the 2nd that it would participate in NASA’s Artemis 2 mission, which is a manned lunar exploration project. They will be involved with the Korean CubeSat ‘K-RadCube’ that will be on board the launch vehicle.

The K-RadCube is a scientific mission CubeSat, measuring radiation as it passes through the Van Allen radiation belts at altitudes above 1000 km. It is a 12-unit (U) CubeSat (1U = 10cm x 10cm x 10cm) and weighs 19kg. The satellite will analyze the impact of space radiation on astronauts.

KT SAT plans to handle integrated control and operation, including satellite control and ground station operations, for the K-RadCube. KT SAT CEO Seo Young-soo stated, “We intend to enhance our operating capabilities for deep space and geostationary orbit satellites and establish a foundation to participate in global space projects such as lunar and Mars exploration in the future.”
