The National Planning Committee is “making efforts to complete the policy tasks before August.”

[Financial News] On the 6th, the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning announced that they have added artificial intelligence (AI) features to the public communication platform “Modu’s Plaza” to enhance administrative efficiency. They also indicated their intent to quickly wrap up the arrangement of national projects, although the operation is scheduled to continue until mid-August.

Cho Seung-rae, the spokesperson of the Policy Planning Commission, mentioned during a briefing that the AI features included in “Modu’s Plaza” are designed for automatic classification, multi-modal processing, and summarizing key content. They expect that AI will simultaneously increase both public convenience and administrative efficiency.

Since the platform “Modu’s Plaza” was launched on June 18th, approximately 5,000 policy proposals and 600,000 civil complaints have been received. According to the commission, with the introduction of AI features, proposals can now be submitted not only in text but also via voice or images. Previously, proposals were manually categorized, but now AI will perform this task, significantly reducing the time required.

Woo Jae-won, an administrative commissioner, explained that AI would classify submitted proposals by similarity and assign them to the appropriate departments, reducing the manual effort involved.

The commission stated their determination to complete the national projects arrangement work before the originally scheduled mid-August deadline. Spokesperson Cho explained that while the deadline is August 14th, they are striving to finish much sooner, setting the national vision, goals, strategy, implementation tasks, and reviewing financial plans.

On the same day, the commission held a meeting with a constitutional amendment advocacy group called “People-led Constitutional Amendment Collaborative Action.” Spokesperson Cho stated that they agreed the people should lead any constitutional amendment, noting that the president has already expressed intentions to amend the constitution in events like the May 18 Memorial. The main discussion is about the timing and procedures rather than the specifics of the amendments.

In a regulatory rationalization task force (TF) meeting held the previous day, there was a discussion on easing economic penalties. Regarding this, Spokesperson Cho noted that while maintaining necessary regulations for public safety and security, there is a consciousness that adopting an incentive-based regulatory approach is preferable for new industries.

He added that market-friendly approaches, rather than penalty-centered regulations, are deemed advantageous for nurturing new industries, and specific cases and directions will be announced after further discussions.
