The Legislation Research Institute reports 2.5 million annual visitors to the World Law Information Center.

To support businesses in expanding into overseas markets, the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) offers a service that simplifies and translates complex laws and regulations from various countries. This service is provided through the World Legislation Information Center, which offers around 30,000 legal documents from 58 countries in 13 different languages.

As of October this year, the institute reported that the annual number of visitors to the World Legislation Information Center (world.moleg.go.kr) surpassed 2.48 million. The center, operational since 2006, provides original texts or Korean translations of foreign laws.

A tailored overseas legislation information request service is available, allowing individuals, small businesses, and public institution employees to receive desired legal information within five days. For foreign laws that require Korean translation, users can submit a request for translation services. Additionally, the center provides updates on global legislative trends and country-specific legal frameworks.

For promising export sectors like K-industries, the center currently offers legal information for seven different industries including content and cosmetics. When collaborative institutions like the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Korea Creative Content Agency) identify corporate needs, the KLRI translates the relevant foreign laws and integrates them into the platforms of the World Legislation Information Center and the collaborative institutions.

Cho Won-cheol, head of the KLRI, mentioned, “The global popularity of K-culture, like K-pop, is on the rise, but expanding into overseas markets is never easy for companies. They must overcome language barriers, as well as understand and prepare for the complex laws and regulations of each country. The World Legislation Information Center aims to become a competent legal assistant, supporting K-culture’s continued expansion into the global market.”
