(Seoul=News1) Reporter Jang Seong-hee = On the 16th, Han Byung-do, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly and requested to proceed with a special committee for a national investigation into allegations of manipulated indictment by the Yoon Seok-youl administration, aiming to compose the committee and finalize the investigation plan as swiftly as possible, recommending its processing in the plenary session on the 19th.
Floor leader Han, accompanied by Deputy Floor Leaders Chun Joon-ho and Kim Han-kyu, and spokesperson Kim Hyun-jung, visited the Speaker’s office in the morning to discuss the national investigation. He later told reporters, “We expressed our party’s strong intention to pursue this matter in the plenary session on the 19th.”
Han said, “There is a strong will and significant public opinion to pursue a national investigation into the allegations of manipulated indictment swiftly to establish justice.” He added, “We are committed to expediting the process to meet public expectations.”
Previously, at a senior party committee meeting, Han referred to the national investigation request reported in the National Assembly’s plenary session on the 12th, stating, “The Democratic Party will immediately initiate negotiations for the composition of the national investigation committee, in accordance with the law on parliamentary inspections and investigations.”
“We will uncover the full extent of the manipulated indictment orchestrated by the Yoon Seok-youl political prosecution,” he said, emphasizing that the actions of the political prosecutors, who violated the Constitution, democracy, and citizens’ rights for their own privileges and safety, will be brought to an end.
He continued, “There is a tremendous demand from the public for truth-finding regarding manipulated indictments,” asserting that the Democratic Party will pass the national investigation plans for events such as the Daejang-dong Wiryeseong case, Samcheok-ul North Korea remittance case, the Moon Jae-in government’s real estate statistics manipulation case, and the West Sea public official shooting case, to thoroughly uncover the truth behind the seven major manipulated indictment cases involving the Yoon Seok-youl political prosecution.”
Chief Spokesperson Kang Jun-hyun also confirmed their determination after meeting with reporters, stating, “We aim to form the special committee this week and adopt the national investigation plan in the plenary session on the 19th.”
