Joo Ho-young stated, “Lee Jung-hyun’s exclusion from the senior positions? It’s like handing over Daegu to the Democratic Party… We absolutely cannot accept this.”

“Allegations that Lee Jung-hyun is following Goh Seong-guk’s orders to support Lee Jin-sook”,

As prospects arose that Lee Jung-hyun, head of the People Power Party’s nomination management committee, would implement a “senior lawmaker cutoff” for the Daegu mayoral candidacy, Representative Joo Ho-young strongly criticized this, saying, “It seems like they have decided to hand Daegu over to the Democratic Party.”

Representative Joo, who had applied for the Daegu mayoral nomination, stated in Channel A’s YouTube program “Political Signal” today (16th) that “the delegation of complete nomination authority to Chairman Lee Jung-hyun by CEO Jang Dong-hyuk is a violation of party rules,” adding, “One cannot arbitrarily cut people off and portray unsuitable individuals as reforms.”

He questioned, “If senior members are as useless to the party as to face a cutoff, why keep them in the National Assembly?” and firmly declared, “I will never accept a cutoff decision.”

Furthermore, he raised suspicions that Chairman Lee Jung-hyun, recommended by YouTuber Goh Seong-guk, is supporting Lee Jin-sook, the former Broadcasting and Communications Committee Chairwoman, who is running for Daegu mayor.

He said, “There is a claim that YouTuber Goh Seong-guk recommended Chairman Lee Jung-hyun, and since Mr. Goh is campaigning with former Commissioner Lee Jin-sook, they are trying (the senior lawmaker cutoff) based on that.”

He also mentioned former CEO Han Dong-hoon, who is known to be contemplating running in a different region, stating, “Among current incumbents, if someone becomes a candidate for Daegu mayor, it creates a vacancy reason for advantageous by-election for former CEO Han, and such talk is circulating.”

Regarding Kim Boo-kyum, a former Prime Minister mentioned as a potential Democratic Party candidate for Daegu mayor, Representative Joo commented, “When former Prime Minister Kim ran for Daegu mayor previously, he received a 40.33% (vote share),” criticizing, “If we present weak candidates amid internal conflicts and disarray, it is akin to helping establish a Democratic Party mayor.”

After announcing the cutoff of Kim Young-hwan, the governor of North Chungcheong Province, earlier this morning, Chairman Lee hinted at additional cutoffs, stating, “It will not end in North Chungcheong.”

Within and outside the party, there is speculation that Chairman Lee might next target incumbent senior candidates for the Daegu mayor position. It is continuously stated that Chairman Lee’s expressed intent to resign on the 13th was decisively influenced by the nomination committee’s backlash surrounding the Daegu senior lawmaker cutoff.
