Special law on preventing fraudulent leasing deposit passed by the National Assembly’s Land and Transportation Committee… First consensus on a bill affecting people’s lives across party lines.

The National Assembly’s Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Committee processed a bill amending the special law for supporting victims of lease fraud today (21st). This amendment bill is the first livelihood bill agreed upon by both ruling and opposition parties.

In the amendment bill, victims of lease fraud are allowed to reside in public rental housing provided by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) for up to 20 years.

Furthermore, the content includes raising the limit for security deposits to be recognized as victims of lease fraud from the existing 300 million won to 500 million won.

This amendment bill is scheduled to be processed at the plenary session on the 28th after going through the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
