With the Democratic Party scheduled to handle key legislative issues such as the Broadcasting Act and the Yellow Envelope Act at the National Assembly plenary session on the 21st, the People Power Party has requested National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik to postpone the plenary session to the 22nd, after the People Power Party convention.

Song Eon-seok, the interim leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, stated at the strategy meeting today (19th), “The Democratic Party intends to conclude the passage of the broadcasting control law at the plenary session on the 21st and forcibly proceed with passing anti-market laws, such as the illegal strike incitement law and harsher commercial laws.”

He added, “I do not understand why the ruling party and even the special prosecutor, who raided the central party headquarters during the joint speech session, are so eager to disrupt the opposition party’s convention.”

He requested, “We officially ask Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik to postpone the plenary session schedule to after the People Power Party convention,” and expressed the hope that “the Assembly Speaker corrects the plenary session schedule lacking even the minimum courtesy between ruling and opposition parties.”

The People Power Party will conduct a party member vote and public opinion survey over two days starting tomorrow (20th), followed by a convention on the 22nd to elect a new party leader.
