A public opinion poll result released on the 24th showed that President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating for state affairs rose by 1.4 percentage points from the previous week.

According to a survey conducted by Realmeter, commissioned by the Energy Economy Newspaper, on 2,523 voters aged 18 and older nationwide from the 17th to the 21st, President Lee’s approval for state affairs was 55.9%, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from the previous week.

His approval rating, which dropped from 56.7% in the first week of November to 54.5% in the second week, rebounded in this survey. The negative evaluation or “doing wrong” response was 40.5%, down by 0.7 percentage points. The “don’t know” response was 3.6%.

Realmeter analyzed, “The progress during the Middle East and Africa tour, including the signing of 150 trillion won MOUs, highlighted economic and diplomatic achievements, showing an upward trend until mid-week. However, in the latter half, factors such as the KOSPI falling below the 3900 level and a sharp rise in the won-dollar exchange rate, contributing to domestic economic instability, led to a slight correction in the approval rating.”

In a separate poll conducted on the 20th-21st targeting 1,004 voters aged 18 and older nationwide for party support, the Democratic Party was at 47.5% and the People Power Party at 34.8%.

The Democratic Party rose 0.8 percentage points from the previous week, continuing a four-week upward trend, while the People Power Party rebounded by 0.6% after three weeks. However, the gap between the two parties widened slightly to 12.7 percentage points.

The Reform Party was at 3.8%, the National Innovation Party at 2.9%, and the Progressive Party at 1.1%. Other parties were 1.8%, and independents were 8.0%.

Both surveys were conducted using a 100% wireless automatic response method.

The sample error for the presidential approval rating survey is ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and for the party support survey, it is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. The response rates were 4.8% and 3.7%, respectively.
