North Korea has initiated procedures to detain and investigate those responsible for the accident at the Chongjin Shipyard’s destroyer launch ceremony.
The Korean Central News Agency reported today (23rd) that based on the investigation committee’s findings, they have begun procedures to investigate individuals clearly responsible for the accident. It was reported that the general manager of Chongjin Shipyard, Hong Gil-ho, was summoned to the legal authorities yesterday (22nd).
The agency further reported that inspection results confirmed the right side of the hull was scratched and a certain amount of seawater had flooded the rear portion, but the level of damage to the ship was not severe.
Previously, North Korea announced that a major accident occurred during the launch ceremony of a new destroyer attended by Chairman Kim Jong Un.
