Lee Jae-myung: “The People Power Party is engaging in a relay of intimidation protests ahead of the Constitutional Court’s ruling.”

Some members of the People Power Party have begun a series of one-person relay protests in front of the Constitutional Court, urging for the dismissal of impeachment. In response, Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized this as a “relay intimidation protest.”

During a top committee meeting today (12th), Lee stated, “The ruling party, which should protect the constitution, is actively defending and siding with a perpetrator of a grave constitutional violation.” He added, “No action that aims to criticize and threaten the Constitutional Court can be justified.”

He further pointed out, “This is also an assault on constitutional institutions and an act of rebellion.”

Lee criticized the current situation by saying, “With growing anxiety and anger, not only is South Korea’s democracy being challenged, but even the economy is facing daily difficulties,” and remarked, “It seems this reality is invisible to the People Power Party.”

He continued, “I hope they immediately stop actions that incite and support rebellion,” and warned, “If they continue siding with acts that destroy the constitution, the People Power Party should remember that they will ultimately be abandoned by the public.”
