▲ On August 28, the Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited the training base for special operations directly under the General Staff Department of the Korean People’s Army on the 27th. He assessed the training conditions of sniper units and special operations units.
Kim Jong-un, the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, emphasized the modernization of sniper weapons and practical training during his visit to the special operations training base.
According to the Korean Central News Agency, Kim Jong-un inspected the state of training for sniper and special operations units at the base directly under the General Staff Department yesterday.
Kim Jong-un reviewed a ‘new sniper rifle’ which was designed, developed, and supplied by the Academy of Defense Sciences, expressing his satisfaction by stating, “It is very gratifying to have new-generation sniper weapons.”
He mentioned that the Party Central Military Commission will consider organizing a central sniper training center directly under the General Staff Department in the future. Kim Jong-un also instructed the Ministry of National Defense to produce camouflage uniforms for sniper units, which are to be supplied from this year, in accordance with mission area conditions and seasonal characteristics.
The Korean Central News Agency released several photos of Kim Jong-un with special forces soldiers wearing forest camouflage uniforms.
Kim Jong-un also observed live ammunition shooting training of the sniper units and comprehensive special physical training of the special operation troops.
