Kim Byung-ki, the floor leader of the Minjoo Party, criticized the internal opposition within the prosecution following the decision to drop an appeal in the Daejang-dong case, calling it “a coup-like defiance by pro-Yoon (Yoon Seok-yeol) political prosecutors.”
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly today, Kim stated, “Even after making political indictments akin to fabrications and seeing their flimsy logic and evidence thoroughly dismantled in court, they show no shame.”
He further remarked, “Despite their disgraceful exposure during the first trial of the Daejang-dong case, they remain audacious. They are still deluded into thinking they stand above the law.”
Kim accused “a handful of political prosecutors, led by Chief Prosecutor Kang Baek-sin, of challenging the public and democracy with their insubordination” and emphasized, “This time we will thoroughly crush the political prosecution’s resistance.”
He promised, “We will thoroughly investigate the insubordination and allegations of fabricated indictments by the political prosecutors, utilizing all possible means such as national investigations, hearings, and special prosecutors to uncover the truth about their actions.”
Additionally, Kim stated, “Even after the National Assembly decided to lift the state of emergency, Yoon Seok-yeol sent a diplomatic letter to the U.S. requesting justification and support for the state of emergency, revealing Yoon’s attempted coup.”
He continued, “The Minjoo Party urges a thorough investigation by the special prosecutor. We must hold Yoon Seok-yeol, the instigator of the rebellion, and his accomplices accountable,” and warned pro-Yoon prosecutors, stating, “Reflect on spending the rest of your lives regretting the crime of worshipping Yoon Seok-yeol, covering up the crimes of Yoon and Kim Kun-hee, and betraying the country and its people.”
