Kim Byung-gi, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party, criticized former President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 16th for refusing to appear for a special investigation into rebellion, saying, “His shamelessness is going too far.”

At the National Assembly’s Supreme Council meeting that day, Acting President Kim stated, “The forced escort by the prison authorities failed due to Yoon Seok-yeol’s resistance.”

He added, “Yoon Seok-yeol is publicly mocking the special investigation, comparing it to the era of General Eulji Mundeok, and it is truly ironic that the one who most violated democracy is being protected by democratic legal procedures.”

He continued, “Did he go to the prison for fun?” and added, “To put it bluntly, he is out of his mind.”

Kim also questioned, “How long must we watch the antics of Yoon Seok-yeol, the ringleader of rebellion, who mocks law and deceives the public?” He added, “If ordinary inmates also refuse a prosecution investigation, will the prosecution’s directions be ignored?”

Furthermore, he criticized the “lax and self-preserving attitude of the correctional authorities” and expressed “strong regret.”

Addressing the special investigation team, he urged them to “use all legally permissible means and methods to bring out the ringleader of rebellion, Yoon Seok-yeol, from prison for investigation,” and to “consider appropriate legal responsibility for the correctional authorities that do not follow the special investigation’s directives.”

He also promised, “Economic crises always first affect the lowest parts of our society,” and pledged that there would be no negligence in protecting the socially vulnerable who are susceptible to economic crises and natural disasters.”

Additionally, he mentioned plans to “re-examine the blind spots in livelihood and care to ensure that not a single citizen is excluded from administration and welfare” and to “actively promote comprehensive stabilization measures, such as industrial accident prevention, agricultural strategies, and power supply management.”
