[Financial News] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 20th that it will participate in the ‘Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025)’ held in Langkawi, Malaysia, from the 20th to the 24th to conduct marketing for additional exports in Southeast Asia.
LIMA 2025 is an exhibition focused on aviation and maritime affairs and is a representative international defense exhibition held biennially in Southeast Asia. KAI has been participating continuously since 2017, and during the 2023 exhibition, it finalized a contract for the export of the FA-50 to Malaysia.
As a headline sponsor for this exhibition, KAI will showcase △KF-21 △FA-50 fixed-wing aircraft △Surion and MAH rotary-wing aircraft △UCAV △AAP, demonstrating the expandability into a manned-unmanned combined system.
Through this exhibition, KAI plans to share the status of the successful implementation of the ongoing FA-50M project with the Malaysian Air Force and continue its marketing activities for a speedy realization of the second additional procurement project. KAI intends to emphasize the introduction’s synergy effects and introduce the KF-21 exports in the future. Malaysia is currently planning to additionally procure 18 more FA-50s in the second phase, which could increase to a total of 36, including the first contract.
A KAI representative stated, “Based on successful operating cases of KAI’s aircraft, such as the FA-50 and KT-1 in Southeast Asian customer countries, we will expand exports of our main models. Concurrently, marketing activities for various products under development, including the KF-21 and MAH, will be combined to expand into the global market.”
