After People Power Party lawmakers collectively abstained from voting on President Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment bill, there has been a surge of complaints at their constituency offices.
According to Yonhap News on the 9th, at around 11 a.m., a university student named Jeon posted a placard at the district office of lawmaker Shin Dong-wook (Seocho B) in Seocho-gu, Seoul, criticizing that what was witnessed in the National Assembly on the 7th was akin to declaring war on the people. Introducing himself as a 21st-grade student from Seoul National University, Jeon raised his voice to Shin, his district lawmaker and university senior, urging him not to ignore the people’s demands.
Similarly, at the office of lawmaker Cho Jung-hoon (Mapo A) in Mapo-gu, a funeral wreath with a message saying “Leave Mapo” was placed, and eggs were thrown.
Mapo Police Station responded to a report from an official about funeral wreaths and broken raw eggs in front of the office at around 9 a.m. Cho’s party plans to decide whether to file a police report after internal discussions.
On social networking services (SNS), photos of funeral wreaths placed in front of offices of the same party’s lawmakers, including Kim Jae-seop (Dobong A), are being shared.
