President Yoon Suk-yeol, during the press conference held to mark his 2nd anniversary in office on the 9th, answered a question about his willingness to meet with Cho Kuk, the leader of the Justice Party, and Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the Reform Party, by stating, “I will not draw lines against any politician and always remain open.”
President Yoon, at the ‘Yoon Suk-yeol Administration 2-Year Report to the Nation and Press Conference’ held at the Blue House in Yongsan on that day, responded to a question about whether he is considering practical measures for cooperation regarding the prolonged standoff over key issues such as the Special Prosecutor’s Act and his willingness to meet with leaders Cho and Lee.
He said, “I have emphasized strengthening communication, and especially opening up more communication with the press and the political sector,” and added, “I will not draw lines against any politician and always remain open.”
President Yoon further elaborated, stating, “Cooperation cannot be achieved with one move. Our politics have been progressing by creating conflicts to an extreme extent for a long time,” and added, “So when I met with the leader of the Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, in an attempt at cooperation, I don’t think the atmosphere changed drastically overnight and that cooperation was achieved.”
He continued, “I think perseverance, patience, sincerity towards each other, trust, dialogue, and courtesy are what constitute cooperation,” and emphasized, “I believe that the attitude of making efforts for cooperation for the people, never giving up on cooperation, is crucial.”
