President Yoon Suk-yeol clarified on the 9th that there seems to have been a misunderstanding regarding his demand for the resignation of Han Dong-hoon, the emergency response committee chief of the People Power Party during the April 10 general election period.
President Yoon responded to a question about whether he had demanded Han Dong-hoon’s resignation or reconciled with him during the ‘Yoon Suk-yeol Government 2-Year National Report and Press Conference’ held at the Blue House in Yongsan on that day. He stated, “There seems to have been a misunderstanding as there was a conversation about it during a lunch meeting with our chief of staff, the floor leader of the People Power Party, and Mr. Han. We resolved that issue right away.”
He also expressed his belief that while Han Dong-hoon’s political career may be short, he firmly established himself as a politician as he led the general election as the vice chairman and overall campaign director of a major party. President Yoon stated that he believes Han will continue to walk a successful path as a politician.
Regarding the selection of the next Prime Minister, he mentioned, “Some people criticize me for being stubborn, but I have been saying since taking office that I will not use reshuffling as a breakthrough in such a political situation.” He added, “However, reshuffling is necessary. Because the ministers who have served for the past two years since the government’s inauguration need to change the atmosphere of each ministry, communicate more, and approach livelihood issues.”
President Yoon also stated, “We are considering cabinet appointments, but we do not plan to rush the changes. We will carefully review the candidates and appoint someone who will work properly for the people.”
