The results of a public opinion poll released on the 3rd show that Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party and Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, are both recording double-digit preference ratings in a survey on the suitability of future presidential candidates from both the ruling and opposition parties.

According to a Realmeter survey commissioned by Energynomics conducted on 1,506 eligible voters aged 18 and over nationwide from the 26th to the 28th of last month (with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points), Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung scored 46.3%. Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo followed with 18.9%.

Next, former People Power Party representative Han Dong-hoon received 6.9%, followed by Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo with 6.8%, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon with 5.1%, and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min with 2.1%.

Former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon scored 1.7%, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon received 1.4%, and both former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and former South Gyeongsang Province Governor Kim Kyung-soo scored 1.3% each.

In a hypothetical head-to-head contest for the next presidential election, Lee Jae-myung leads all ruling party candidates outside the margin of error. In a matchup between Lee Jae-myung and Minister Kim Moon-soo, Lee scored 50.0% versus Kim’s 31.6%, marking an 18.4 percentage point difference.

In a contest with Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Lee scored 50.3% versus Oh’s 23.5%, a difference of 26.8 percentage points, and in a matchup with Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, Lee scored 50.0% against Hong’s 24.2%, a difference of 25.8 percentage points. In a contest between Lee and former representative Han Dong-hoon, Lee received 49.7% versus Han’s 20.3%, a difference of 29.4 percentage points.

This survey was conducted using a wireless automated response method and a random sampling frame through random dialing.
