Choi stated, “Since this year’s Lunar New Year holidays are longer than usual, an increase in travelers is expected, so ensure that traffic management is thorough so that citizens can move safely and comfortably.” He further instructed, “After today’s nationwide snow or rain, if temperatures drop, road safety could be at risk. Make sure to provide real-time traffic information and various convenience information through multiple means to the public, check frequently if the emergency lane operations, detour guides, and other measures are functioning well during the holiday period.”

He then visited the Seoul Disaster Prevention Center, where Kim Yoon-sub, Head of the Center, reported on emergency patient transport strategies for the holiday. Choi advised, “Since the Lunar New Year holidays see a large number of people on the move and the possibility of accidents such as wintertime fires is high, be extra vigilant in your duties.” Particularly, he instructed, “As the public turns to 119 in emergencies, ensure that emergency treatment and transport are swiftly performed by establishing a thorough emergency transport system with related agencies.”

Finally, during his visit to the Central Police Station’s Gwanghui precinct located in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, Acting President Choi received a briefing from precinct leader Shin Eun-kyu on the precinct’s status and holiday safety measures.

He remarked, “The citizens can live with peace of mind thanks to the dedication of police officers at the forefront of security,” and requested, “Enhance preventive patrols so that visitors to shopping areas like Hwanghakdong Central Market can feel safe.”
