Acting President Choi, “I will not accept the collective resignations from the Presidential Office.”

[Herald Economy=Choi Jung-ho] Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, announced that he would not accept the resignations submitted by the presidential office staff.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance stated on the 1st that Acting President Choi expressed his intention not to accept the collective resignations submitted by the presidential office staff.

In a press release, the Ministry of Economy and Finance mentioned, “We believe that we should all focus our efforts on stabilizing people’s livelihoods and national governance,” and added, “There is no plan to accept the resignations.”

On the same day, Chief and high-ranking aides at the presidential office submitted their resignations to Acting President Choi. The presidential office announced that Chief-of-Staff Jeong Jin-seok, Policy Chief Seong Tae-yoon, National Security Chief Shin Won-sik, Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs and Security Jang Ho-jin, and all chief secretaries expressed their intention to resign to Acting President Choi.

The presidential office had expressed strong regret over Acting President Choi’s decision to appoint two out of three constitutional court judge candidates recommended by the National Assembly, stating that it “exceeds his authority.”
