The program includes a 150th-anniversary tribute to Ravel by the Changwon, Incheon, and Bucheon orchestras; and a 50th-anniversary tribute to Shostakovich by the Changwon, Cheongju, and Daejeon orchestras. Composer-focused explorations will feature Brahms by the Suwon Philharmonic, Tchaikovsky by Gangneung Philharmonic, and Rachmaninoff by the Jeju Symphony Orchestra.
Furthermore, the Gangnam Symphony, Busan Philharmonic, and Gyeonggi Philharmonic will showcase Mahler’s masterpieces, while the Jinju Philharmonic will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 ‘Choral’ and the Jeonju Philharmonic will perform Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9.
The Seoul Arts Center explained that this festival involves 18 symphony orchestras nationwide, with a substantial appearance of younger generation conductors, the highest number of overseas soloists, and the addition of rare repertoires. Each participating orchestra will perform in their local area with the same programs and performers before appearing on the festival stage.
