Seoul City’s “Form & Form Chair” developed by the city won the main award at the iF Design Awards.

**Fun Design Public Facilities Recognized for Creativity and Innovation**

Seoul, March 20 (Yonhap) – Reporter Kim Ki-hoon reports that the “Form & Form Chair,” a fun design public facility developed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, has won the main award in the public design category at the “iF Design Award 2025,” which is one of the world’s top three design awards.

The Form & Form Chair, created by the city, is noted for its lightweight and excellent durability, making it practically useful in various environments. It has been praised for its design that harmoniously combines practicality with aesthetic value.

The chair is particularly placed in urban spaces like the “Cheonggyecheon Stream Reading Spot,” providing citizens with spaces to enjoy reading and relaxation.

Prior to this recognition, the Form & Form Chair received the Gold Award in the Product and Industry Design category at the 2024 Hong Kong DFA Design Award and the Grand Prize at the Korea Design Award (KDA).

A city official remarked, “This award is not just a short-term achievement but the result of consistently proving its value on the international stage within the broader flow of the fun design project.”

In 2022, the “Cloud Shade” won the main award in the architecture category at the iF Design Award, and in 2023, the bench “Soul Drops” received the main award in the product category and the Red Dot Design Award in the brand and communication category simultaneously.

The city plans to continue offering fun designs to bring joy to citizens and enhance the quality of urban space. In the first half of this year, two types of “Fun Design Shades” – mobile and fixed – will be installed and operated. In the second half, a “Mobile Toilet” will be developed for pilot installation and operation.

Choi In-kyu, Seoul’s Design Policy Officer, stated, “We will continuously promote creative and innovative public design projects to further enhance Seoul’s appeal and ensure that citizens can live in a more comfortable and enjoyable environment.”
