Naver Pay Expands ‘Connect’ Terminals to Tourist Spots to Assist Foreigners with Payments

Agreement with Korea Tourism Organization for seamless payment infrastructure
Integration of store information with Npay Connect in Naver Map by December

(Seoul, News1) Reporter Shin Eun-bin – Naver Pay is collaborating with the Korea Tourism Organization to enhance the payment convenience for foreign tourists in Korea by expanding the offline unified terminal ‘Npay Connect’ to major tourist spots nationwide.

Naver Pay announced on the 1st that it has signed an agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization based on this initiative. This agreement aims to create a payment infrastructure where foreign tourists can travel around the country without limitations on payment methods.

Initially, by December, Naver Map will include information about stores equipped with Connect terminals. This will allow foreign tourists to check the availability of payment options like Apple Pay and contactless card payment via NFC before their visits.

Reviews left by domestic users through Connect will be translated into English, Chinese, and Japanese. This feature will help foreign tourists easily explore trustworthy reviews of restaurants, cafes, and landmarks.

The two organizations recently collaborated during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where Connect terminals were installed in some stores on Hwangridan Street to support payments by foreign tourists. They plan to expand the installation of Connect terminals to various regions and festivals/cultural events nationwide.

Lee Hyang-cheol, the head of Naver Pay’s payment services, stated, “Through cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization, we aim to provide the best payment experience not only to domestic users but also to overseas tourists,” adding that they will continue to collaborate on various tourism services reflecting on-site feedback.
