Musicals ‘Moulin Rouge!’ and ‘Beetlejuice’ to Hit the Stage This Year

CJ ENM Performance Lineup Announced

(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Won-hee – The musical “Moulin Rouge!” returns to the stage after three years. “Beetlejuice” will be making its comeback after four years.

On the 13th, CJ ENM announced its musical performance plans for this year.

“Moulin Rouge!” is set against the backdrop of the Moulin Rouge club in 1890s Paris and tells the love story of the club’s star, Satine, and composer Christian. It is based on the 2001 film of the same name directed by Baz Luhrmann. Following its first licensed performance in Asia in 2022, its second season will premiere this November at the Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall.

“Beetlejuice,” a musical based on the film by director Tim Burton, depicts the story of the ghost Beetlejuice. After its licensed performance in Korea in 2021, it will open at the LG Art Center in Seoul in December, four years later.

The musical “Werther” will hold a 25th-anniversary performance starting from January 17 at the D Cube Link Art Center in Seoul. “42nd Street” and “Kinky Boots” are also scheduled to be performed this year.

CJ ENM stated, “We will bring to the stage a large number of musical masterpieces that have received tremendous global love,” and added, “Works that encapsulate the achievements of global co-productions led by CJ ENM and the capabilities of domestic performance production will be fully showcased.”
