Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Give and Race’ event attracts 20,000 participants, raising 1 billion won in donations.

The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 7th that it raised around 1 billion KRW in donations while concluding the ‘12th Mercedes-Benz Give and Race’ event.

The event, which took place on the 6th in Busan, included citizens from all over the country along with figures such as Lee Joon-seung, the Deputy Mayor of Busan, Mathias Vaitl, Chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee (President of Mercedes-Benz Korea), Lee Hoon-kyu, Director of the Child and Future Foundation, and Choi Byung-han, President of Busan MBC. Participants ran along famous locations in Busan such as BEXCO, Gwangalli Beach, and Gwangan Bridge, depending on the course they signed up for.

The Give and Race is a running event that has been held by the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee since 2017 to promote a culture of donation and it supports children and youth in need of social care. This year, as with last year, 20,000 citizens participated, raising more than 1 billion KRW in donations for the second consecutive year.

Since its inception, approximately 145,000 participants have joined, and about 7.6 billion KRW in donations have been accumulated as of the 12th event. This year’s donations are also planned to be used for supporting child abuse prevention projects, as was done last year.

Chairman Vaitl expressed gratitude, saying, “I am truly thankful to everyone who participated in this edition of the Give and Race event, which allowed us to practice sharing through donations while running along the beautiful coast of Busan. Since its first launch in 2017, the Give and Race has become an integral part of the donation culture. Through this, we will continue to provide more opportunities and support for children and youth to grow up safely and pursue their dreams.”
