Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee Announces Vision for ‘Protecting Abused Children’ at 10th Anniversary Ceremony

Mercedes-Benz Korea’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee announced on the 16th that it declared a new vision focused on protecting children from abuse during a ceremony held on the 13th to mark its 10th anniversary.

The ceremony, which took place at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by around 100 participants, including beneficiary welfare institutions, government agencies, local governments, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Korea, 11 dealership companies, and the Child and Future Foundation. During the event, participants celebrated and expressed gratitude for the positive changes and efforts achieved together over the past decade.

Mercedes-Benz Korea established the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee in 2014 under the slogan “Mercedes-Benz Promise.” They have engaged in various social contribution activities through education and sharing, to create a safe environment where children, the hope of the future, can pursue their dreams. As of December, the accumulated donations returned to Korean society amounted to 52.4 billion KRW.

During the event, under the vision declaration of “Child Safety,” there was a collective agreement to strengthen protective activities for children and adolescents suffering from various forms of violence, despite drastic development in Korean society, which has widened cultural, economic, and digital gaps.

Matthias Beitlle, chairman, remarked at the ceremony, “It was thanks to the cooperation and participation of government agencies, partner companies, citizens, and many others present here today that we were able to find genuine opportunities to contribute to Korean society and continuously seek positive change over the past 10 years.”

He added, “We will continue to pay more attention to the difficulties and pain faced by children and adolescents, who are the owners of the future, and actively support them so that they can advance toward their dreams without becoming discouraged.”
