Kumho Tire Honored at World’s Four Major Design Awards… ‘Volume’ and ‘Origami’ Tires Praised
(Seoul=News1) Reporter Kim Sung-sik = Kumho Tire (073240) announced on the 16th that it won two main awards (winner) at the 2025 IDEA Design Awards.
The IDEA Design Award is a design competition organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and is considered one of the world’s four major design awards alongside Germany’s iF Design Award, Germany’s Red Dot Design Award, and Japan’s Good Design Award.
The products ‘Volume’ and ‘Origami’ submitted by Kumho Tire received main awards in the Professional Concept and Speculative Design categories. Both products are tires that offer new driving experiences for future mobility, providing optimal solutions across various terrains.
‘Volume’ is a next-generation tire that dynamically adjusts its structure and functions according to speed and road conditions, providing intelligent solutions that meet evolving mobility demands. ‘Origami’ is a specially designed foldable tire for space exploration and settlement construction, utilizing an innovative structure based on the principle of origami to maximize efficiency in space environments.
These award-winning products were developed through Kumho Tire’s technology outsourcing. This is a collaborative project of Kumho Tire, which is researching the development of future mobility tires, and the project included participation from the business design studio BKID.
