4th K-Musical International Market Opens on 22nd in Daehangno Area

, On the 18th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center held the opening ceremony of the 4th K-Musical International Market at CJ Aztique in Daehangno, Jongno-gu, Seoul. This event will be held in the Daehangno area of Seoul until the 22nd.

, Established in 2021, the K-Musical International Market is an event where domestic and international musical experts and investors promote and exchange information on promising Korean musicals. This year, 30 selected works from a pre-selection process will be introduced to foreign investors.

, In the ‘Showcase Presentation,’ where investors are presented with performances directly, 8 works including ‘Westside Story,’ ‘Vanishing,’ ‘Human Inquiry Life,’ ‘Burn The Witch,’ ‘Fan Letter,’ ‘Swag Age Cries Out, Joseon!,’ ‘Taekwon, Fly Up,’ and ‘Kiki’s Borderline Personality Disorder Diary’ were selected. Additionally, a total of 22 works, including ‘Baseball King Marines,’ will be introduced to investors through presentations instead of showcases.

, Among the outstanding works, 17 selected pieces will receive support for future showcase performances in the UK’s West End, Taipei, Taiwan, Tokyo, Japan, and connections with industry professionals, localization of scripts, and other follow-up support.

, During the opening ceremony, Jeon Byeong-geuk, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, mentioned the success of the musical ‘The Great Gatsby’ making it to Broadway in the US and winning a Tony award. He stated, “We will continue various support programs to activate the creation of K-musicals, expand overseas distribution, and follow through with support.”
