Unprecedented Record: BTS’s Jimin Becomes First Korean to Hold No. 1 on Spotify for 500 Days

BTS’s Jimin is making new strides in K-pop history with remarkable accomplishments on the Spotify Korea charts.

On December 7th, Jimin achieved his 500th first place on Spotify Korea’s ‘Daily Top Artist’ chart, as reported by the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify. This makes him the first to reach 500 number-one spots on this chart, setting a unique record and showcasing his overwhelming popularity.

Jimin’s dominance continues on the ‘Weekly Top Artist’ chart as he maintains the record for the most number-one positions, achieving his 73rd win. This success underscores his significant musical influence not only domestically but also globally.

The title track “Who” from his second solo album ‘MUSE’ went straight to number one on the Spotify Korea ‘Daily Top Song’ chart upon its release on July 19. Even without any official activities, it has impressively maintained its number-one position for 144 consecutive days up to the latest chart on December 9, indicating that his music continues to captivate and resonate with fans.

Notably, Jimin also holds the record for the longest number-one song on the ‘Daily Top Song’ chart with “Like Crazy,” the title track from his first album ‘FACE,’ which stayed at number one for 268 days. Following that, “Who” has remained at number one for 144 days, with both songs owned solely by Jimin as record holders, placing his name in the top two on the Spotify Korea charts.

Jimin has achieved a total of 446 cumulative first-place positions on the Spotify Korea ‘Daily Top Song’ chart, establishing himself as the artist with the most number-one achievements. Furthermore, in Spotify’s recently released ‘2024 Wrapped’ year-end summary, Jimin was named the most streamed artist in Korea for two consecutive years.

His hit tracks “Who” and “Like Crazy” ranked as the first and second most played songs by Spotify Korea users. Additionally, “Closer Than This” and the English version of “Like Crazy” ranked fifth and tenth respectively, with four of the top ten songs being Jimin’s works. These accomplishments propelled his album ‘MUSE’ to the top of the year-end chart for the most streamed album in Korea.
