Sohyang’s “Golden” Live Controversy: “I Ruined Everything” – Emotional Confession Recently, singer Sohyang has been at the center of discussions due to a controversy surrounding her live performance of the song “Golden.” The issue arose after some listeners criticized her rendition, which led to Sohyang openly expressing her feelings of regret and disappointment, saying, “I ruined everything.” She shared her emotional confession on social media, revealing the pressure and high expectations she had been facing. Despite the criticism, many fans and fellow artists have shown their support, emphasizing her exceptional talent and encouraging her to continue performing.

[OSEN=Yoo Su-yeon] Singer Sohyang has shared her thoughts following her New Year’s Countdown performance.

On December 31, from 11 p.m., Sohyang performed “Golden” by Huntrix, the OST for “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” alongside Yeongbin and Park Hye-won (HYNN), in front of a large media facade in Myeongdong, Seoul as part of KBS’s ‘2026 Countdown Show Right Now.’

The performance began with Yeongbin and Sohyang, but Sohyang’s initial notes were somewhat shaky. Her pitch was off and unstable, and this tension carried through the performance. Sohyang’s distinctive voice overshadowed the harmonies, and viewers described it as ‘discordant.’ However, as the performance progressed, she gradually regained stability, and by the end, her unique vocal prowess was somewhat reasserted.

After the performance video was uploaded to KBS’s YouTube channel, reactions were mixed. Comments such as “It was too much,” “It was a disaster,” and “I was shocked watching it live” were common. Acknowledging the feedback, Sohyang herself commented, “I know, I ruined it. I’m also very disappointed.”

Furthermore, on January 4, Sohyang addressed the ‘Golden’ live performance controversy more extensively in the introduction section of her YouTube channel. She wrote, “Golden… I really messed up,” and reflected, “Ah, this voice belongs to God. When I used it according to my selfish desires, I ended up being incompetent.” She also noted, “This was an opportunity to reaffirm my resolve to humbly be used as the Lord’s instrument,” and asked for prayers.

Sohyang referenced the biblical story of Jacob, adding, “God loved Jacob but trained and transformed him into a servant of the Lord.” She concluded by saying, “Please look forward to the journey ahead.”
