[Seoul Economy] The Korea Economic Association and the Korea Federation of SMEs are joining forces to stimulate domestic demand and revitalize the people’s livelihood economy.

On the 7th, the Korea Economic Association and the Korea Federation of SMEs signed a ‘Living Recovery Business Agreement with Large and Small Businesses’ at the Korea Federation of SMEs in Yeouido, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by relevant officials from both economic organizations, including Ryu Jin, chairman of the Korea Economic Association, and Kim Ki-moon, chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs.

In his speech, Chairman Ryu emphasized, “The prolonged stagnation of domestic demand is causing a crisis in regional economies, and it is very meaningful that the Korea Economic Association and the Korea Federation of SMEs, which represent the business sector, have joined hands in these tough economic times.” Chairman Kim also stated, “If voluntary civilian campaigns for economic recovery accompany such efforts, the effects can be even greater. This agreement marks a significant first step in invigorating the people’s economy through the collaboration of large and small businesses.”

The two organizations agreed to cooperate on various initiatives, including promoting a ‘Vacate in Korea’ campaign among large and small businesses, encouraging participation in ‘spending summer vacations in Korea’ among member companies and related institutions, revitalizing local businesses using regional currencies and Onnuri gift certificates, spreading travel-friendly work systems, and other necessary collaborations for stimulating the domestic economy and restoring livelihoods. The Korea Economic Association had previously asked its members through a cooperation letter to actively utilize various support systems to promote domestic travel from July 1st.

Lee Sang-ho, head of the economic and industrial division at the Korea Economic Association, stated, “Through this agreement, large and small businesses plan to strengthen cooperation to restore domestic demand and the regional economy. We are planning to embark on diverse activities contributing to the recovery of the people’s economy, such as the K-Vacance campaign for the promotion of domestic travel.”
