Samsung SDI Unveils ‘Advanced Prismatic Battery’ at CES 2025

Samsung SDI received praise from the global industry for showcasing innovative battery products and technologies at CES 2025, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA.

Samsung SDI announced on the 10th that it displayed a range of latest products, including cylindrical batteries, prismatic batteries for electric vehicles, and the SBB 1.5 power energy storage system (ESS) solutions, at a customer invitation exhibition set up at the Wynn Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. Alongside these, the exhibition featured key battery products that had already received “CES Innovation Awards” and disclosed solid-state battery technology that has been garnering attention in the industry.

The most captivating products included the PRiMX680-EV, a high-density, long-life prismatic battery for electric vehicles that combines safety and performance through innovative design and processing technology, and the PRiMX680 Module+, an EV battery module that simplifies structure by using wireless communication technology to improve production efficiency and quality.

Additionally, the exhibition showcased the SBB 1.5, a container-type ESS that can be connected to a power grid for immediate use with significantly enhanced safety. The PRiMX50U-Power, a cylindrical battery incorporating high-power and fast-charging technology, was also presented. Samsung SDI displayed a solid-state battery that achieved industry-leading energy density using its proprietary no-anode technology.

Samsung SDI operated professional docents at the exhibition to introduce key products from each business segment to customers and market research organizations to enhance understanding. The exhibition theme was set as “Realizing a Sustainable Future with Leading Technologies,” focusing on demonstrating innovative technical capabilities.

Despite the challenges facing the battery industry, such as uncertainties due to the electric vehicle chasm and the inauguration of the Trump administration in the United States, Samsung SDI expressed its determination to prepare for the future through proactive technological innovations. While the industry performance is sluggish due to weak demand and policy uncertainties, Samsung SDI plans to respond by continuously investing in differentiated technology development and innovation for the upcoming “supercycle.”

A Samsung SDI representative stated, “We showcased our efforts and determination to realize a sustainable future based on leading technologies to our customers,” adding that “we received positive feedback from customers who directly observed our top-tier battery technology and quality.”
