LS Electric unveils full lineup of HVDC: Emphasizing capabilities as an “energy highway”

From the 4th, for three days, LS Electric will participate in both the ‘ELEC Korea 2026’ and ‘Korea Smart Grid Expo 2026’ held at COEX in Seoul, where they will showcase their full lineup of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) products including transformers, STATCOMs, and distribution solutions for data centers.

During this exhibition, LS Electric is highlighting its HVDC technology, crucial for the energy highway business, featuring transformers for conversion (C-TR), static synchronous compensators (STATCOM), and valves. The company has secured large HVDC projects like ‘Bukdangjin~Godeok’ and ‘East Coast~Capital Area’, surpassing 1 trillion KRW in HVDC project orders.

HVDC is a transmission method where alternating current (AC) generated by power plants is converted to direct current (DC) for transmission. It has less loss compared to AC transmission and is advantageous for long-distance, high-capacity power transmission. It is considered a core technology for national power grid construction, including the government’s West Coast energy highway initiative.

The exhibition will also feature the first unveiling of the ‘Beyond X MDB’, a strategic new product for AI data centers. This ultra-slim modular switchgear improves installation space efficiency by over 30% compared to existing products and is tailored to the high-end market.

Additionally, smart factory solutions like the Cheonan ‘DC Factory’ example, based on the world’s first DC distribution system, and the digital inverter order platform ‘Standard Panel Drive’ will be presented.

LS Electric is expanding its data center power solution orders, particularly in North America, which is the largest global data center market. Last year, the company’s global data center-related orders exceeded 1 trillion KRW, with over 800 billion KRW recorded in North America alone.

An LS Electric representative stated, “Through this exhibition, we aim to reaffirm our capability as the ideal candidate to carry out the West Coast energy highway project by emphasizing our global-level HVDC technology and business capacity. We plan to showcase innovative solutions leading the next-generation power industry and introduce the future of the global power infrastructure market.”
