LG Innotek and LG Display Lead in Carbon Management

**LG Innotek and LG Display Recognized for Excellence in Climate Change Response**

LG Innotek and LG Display have been recognized for their outstanding efforts in climate change responses, being selected as leaders in carbon management. They have received high marks for improving energy efficiency and excelling in carbon management strategies.

On the 30th, LG Innotek announced that it received a “Leadership A” grade in the 2024 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) climate change response assessment, making it the top carbon management company for three consecutive years. The CDP is a global initiative that assesses and collects environmental information from major companies worldwide on behalf of leading financial institutions and provides relevant information to stakeholders through an open platform.

The CDP assessment takes place simultaneously in over 130 countries and is regarded as one of the most trusted “global sustainability assessment indicators” alongside the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). This year’s CDP climate change response assessment evaluated 24,836 companies globally, out of which only 2%, or 424 companies, received a “Leadership A grade,” with 16 being South Korean companies.

LG Innotek was highly evaluated for its rapid execution of projects aimed at achieving “2030 RE100 (100% renewable energy use) and 2040 carbon neutrality,” led by a dedicated carbon neutrality team.

At the “2024 CDP Korea Awards” held at the Fairmont Ambassador Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, LG Innotek was selected for the “Carbon Management Honors Club,” awarded to the top 5 companies in the country, for the third consecutive year. It was also selected for the “Carbon Management Sector Honors” in the top 4 companies of the IT sector. This achievement marks the company’s six-year streak as an outstanding enterprise in CDP’s climate change response category from 2019 to 2024.

LG Innotek is making multi-faceted efforts including transitioning to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and refining processes. They have focused specifically on converting high greenhouse gas emission power to renewable energy. Last year, more than 60% of the electricity used at its domestic and international business sites was converted to renewable energy, achieving RE60 as a company-wide standard. The Vietnam and Gumi 1A sites have already achieved RE100.

CEO of LG Innotek, Huh Heung-soo, stated, “We are focusing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities centered on climate change response,” and added, “We aim to create differentiated customer value through global ESG leadership.”

LG Display, also selected for the IT sector “Carbon Management Sector Honors” for the ninth consecutive year, was commended for reducing its domestic and international business site carbon emissions by 43% compared to 2018 and converting 39% of its total power usage to renewable energy.

LG Display is working to reduce direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) greenhouse gas emissions from its production processes. The company is expanding its use of renewable energy and implementing emissions reduction facilities and smart control systems to optimize DX-based facility operations, all part of its carbon reduction activities.
