Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 23rd that it is recruiting schools for its ‘Future Mobility School’ program for the second semester of 2025. This program is a talent development initiative for the future mobility industry, and targets elementary to secondary school students. It includes content centered around hydrogen energy and software technology. Participating schools will be provided with textbooks, class kits, and teacher training.
The Future Mobility School is an activity-based program led by students and is the first of its kind to be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education by a private company. The program is designed to help young people learn about the development process of the mobility industry and innovative technologies such as autonomous driving and robotics, so they can grow into leading talents in future mobility.
The program, which has been running for ten years, has been conducted in 2,720 schools around the world, involving about 110,000 students. This year, the program expanded its target countries from the initial five (Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia) to nine, adding China, Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines.
Hyundai has structured the program to provide more hands-on experience for students concerning the future mobility environment. The program includes activities such as autonomous driving mobility kits, mobility upcycling kits, and future lifestyle planning guides, moving away from traditional lecture-based models.
In the upcoming semester, the educational materials have been revamped to incorporate themes of hydrogen energy and smart mobility, giving insights into the changing future mobility environment. Additionally, content related to the core technologies of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) has been included to align with the worldwide shift in the automotive industry from hardware to software-based systems.
The 2025 second semester Future Mobility School will include programs such as ‘Sustainable Future Life Created by Future Mobility’ for elementary students in grades 4-6, a short-term secondary program ‘Evolution Centered on Smart Mobility’, and a regular secondary program ‘Future Lifestyle with Mobility’. Participants will use related teaching materials for interdisciplinary learning and activities such as the Free Semester System, career-linked education, and creative experiential activities. Online training will be provided to teachers to ensure they can effectively conduct the classes.
Applications for schools wishing to participate in the Future Mobility School are open from May 26 to June 20, and further details can be found by searching ‘Future Mobility School’ online.
A Hyundai representative stated, “The Future Mobility School is an educational program designed to give the younger generation an easier understanding of the next-generation mobility industry, and to broaden their career perspectives. We plan to continue expanding our programs to foster interest and awareness in the mobility industry and to prepare for a sustainable future.”
Hyundai Motor Company is also engaged in global educational exchange activities in collaboration with the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) since 2023, building on the trust and expertise gained through various educational programs conducted domestically. This year, the company’s programs have expanded to include overseas Korean schools, with support extended to a total of eight countries, including Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand. Future plans involve continuous educational exchange through topic-specific educational content such as eco-friendly and smart mobility.
